Have a look through the top questions we often get asked.

There is no such thing as a silly question! If you cannot find the answer here, pop us a message and we will be delighted to help!

What ceremonies do you host and can we marry off site? Should you have a legal ceremony of marriage with the Kent County Council we will book this for you, so you do not have to worry about a thing. All legal and registrar fees are payable directly to the Kent County Council. You are most welcome to marry off site and head to the venue after your ceremony.

Do you have accommodation for guests? There are ample hotels in close proximity to the venue, as list of which can be provided to you by emailing info@marleybrookhouse.co.uk

How long does the ceremony take? Ceremonies with the Kent County Council take approximately 30 minutes.

Is there heating in the Event Suite? We have a low-level heater to ensure this space is kept to a comfortable temperature. The windows open fully down one side to let air in on those summer days!

Can we provide a free bar to our guests? You are welcome to provide hospitality for your guests on your special day. This can be paid for in the lead up to your wedding or on the day, by card, prior to the hospitality commencing.

Do we need wedding insurance? We highly recommend that you take out wedding insurance for your own piece of mind.

What time does the bar open? We suggest inviting your guests to arrive 1 hour prior to your ceremony; the bar will be open upon their arrival.

Do you provide high chairs? We have three highchairs on-site for your guests to use.

Do you allow confetti at the venue? We allow natural petal confetti in the outside areas only.

Do you allow candles at the venue? For safety reasons, we allow the use of LED candles only. Also, due to the Thatched House and animals at the venue, we are unable to allow the release of lanterns.

Can we easily hire a taxi? We recommend that all guests pre-book their taxis for the night of your wedding to ensure favourable pricing and availability. Please refer to our Information Pack for a list of suitable taxi companies.

Is there a train station nearby? Our nearest train station is Minster and is on the mainline to London terminals. We are just a short drive from Canterbury East and West stations.

Coordination

Will you be there on our day? We are excited to share your day with you and be there to support you! We will coordinate the day to ensure all runs to time and will be on hand if you need anything at all.

Do we have a specific wedding coordinator There are three wedding coordinators at Marleybrook House who will all work very closely to organise your day. Whoever you reach in the office will be clued up on your day and will be happy to help with any questions you may have! One of the coordinators will then be there on your day to support you both and make sure everything runs smoothly.

What time can suppliers set up? Suppliers can set up the Marquee and your chosen ceremony area from 9 am, however, we kindly ask that all other outside decorations are set up from 11 am. We ask that suppliers collect all their belongings after last orders on the night of your wedding; should this not be possible all items are left at the owner’s own risk.

What time can I invite evening guests from? Your evening guests can arrive from 6pm so that they can enjoy use of the fairground too.

Can we leave cars overnight? Yes; we have overnight parking on the left-hand side of the lane as you drive towards the venue. We kindly ask all guests to collect their cars by 10am on the morning after your wedding.

What time can we access the venue on our day? Your venue hire will start at 11 am.

Will you book our ceremony? Should you wish to have a legal ceremony of marriage with the Kent County Council at Marleybrook House, we will book this for you, so you do not have to worry about a thing. All legal and registrar fees are payable directly to the Kent County Council.

Do you allow outside caterers? Our in-house catering team, Anderson Limited, are required for a minimum of two offerings throughout your day; either canapes and wedding breakfast or wedding breakfast and evening food. However, should you wish to hire an external catering unit such as an ice cream van or pizza van, we ask that the company clearly displays their branding. All outside catering units will need to be approved by the venue and will be subject to a site fee, we will require the company’s Public Liability Insurance and Health & Hygiene Certificate.

When should I offer drinks to my guests? We recommend providing drinks at three points in the day; your daytime reception, wedding breakfast and for toasting the happy couple.

Can we hire a coach for our guests? You are most welcome to hire a coach for your guests; we have a dedicated coach parking area that can hold up to a 72-seater coach.

Do you have recommended suppliers? We allow all our couples the flexibility to source their own suppliers to suit their requirements. Our friendly team will be delighted to provide you with a list of suppliers who have previously worked at / are familiar with the venue.

Venue Hire

How do I secure my date? When you have chosen your ideal date and checked availability with one of our team, to secure a date we will require a bank payment of £1,500. After you have secured your date we will invite you to the venue for a booking meeting to discuss your special day. This meeting will take approximately 1 hour.

Does the venue have disabled access? The venue is on one level, therefore, is fully accessible for everyone. There is also a disabled toilet on site.

Can we have a firework display? Yes, however, due to the surroundings of the venue, we have a limited allowance for firework displays per year and will be subjected to a site fee. Please contact the team prior to booking a professional company to perform fireworks on your wedding day.

What time does the bar close? The bar closes and music finishes at 11.30 pm with carriages at midnight.

How do we book a viewing? You can arrange a private viewing via our website. Take a look here for details!

How many guests can we have? We can comfortably seat up to 150 guests for your ceremony and wedding breakfast. For your evening reception we can accommodate up to 250 guests. Should your guest numbers exceed these, please do not hesitate to discuss further with a member of our team.

Do we have to have the fairground? No, every wedding we host at Marleybrook House is unique. You can create your special day to suit your requirements, whether you choose to have the fair or not is up to you!

Do you allow live music? Yes, we allow live music at the venue. We have a sound limiter of 85 dB and require all performers to send their public liability insurance to the venue prior to your wedding day.

Do you offer a late licence? No, the music and bar finished at 11:30pm on your special day.
